Norfolk Railroad</STRONG></DIV>
<DIV align=left> </DIV>
<DIV align=left> Roanoke Times: It is reported that the
Cairo and Norfolk, instead of building a line through Virginia, will build only
as far as Radford, near which place it will make connection with the Virginian
Railroad. By this arrangement, it is pointed out, the proposed new road
would secure a direct and easy route to the sea.</DIV>
<DIV align=left> It is reported from Bristol that the idea of
building an independent line into Norfolk has been abandoned by the Cairo and
Norfolk, but this report does not accord with information that has been received
here nor with statements made by the president and chief promoter of the new
road in a letter recently received from him by the Retail Merchants
Association of this city.</DIV>
<DIV align=left> It is expected that President Goode of the
Cairo and Norfolk, will visit Roanoke in the very near future, and some definite
information as to the exact scope of the plans connected with the Cairo and
Norfolk will perhaps then be forthcoming.</DIV>
