Operations Ready to Ship Coal</STRONG></DIV>
<DIV align=left> </DIV>
<DIV align=left> According to information which reached
Bluefield yesterday, the laying of the track on the Virginian branch from
Mullens, on the main line, up Winding Gulf, is practically completed, and the
ballasting is being rushed forward at a rapid rate. The grading is all
finished and only a short distance of steel work remains. It is stated
that the company expects to open the branch in a short time.</DIV>
<DIV align=left> It is understood that several of the coal
operations on the branch are now ready to ship, and that the majority of the
rest will be in a similar position when the branch is completed. There are
fifteen operations which will become shippers when the line is opened, and this
branch will become one of the important feeders of the system.</DIV>
<DIV align=left> The Winding Gulf area is conceded by coal men
to be one of the richest fields in the state, and its development is expected to
rapidly follow upon the opening of railroad facilities.</DIV>
