<DIV align=center><STRONG>Coke is Drag on Market--Labor Question Serious One in
Thacker Field</STRONG></DIV>
<DIV align=left> Owing to lack of orders for coke the coal
operators who have considerable slack are in a quandary what to do about the
demand for nut and lump coal. The demand for this grade of coal seems to
be fairly brisk, and some agencies are having trouble in filling orders.
In the Thacker field the labor question is a serious one and the operators do
not seem to be able to get enough men to get out the coal they have orders
for. The holidays around the Fourth of July did not help the situation any
and labor is scarce, although some improvement is being noted now that the men
are running out of money.</DIV>
<DIV align=left> The railroad people claim that the movement
is ahead of last year and the showing for the month should be good although they
admit it has been rather quiet since pay day on account of the holidays.
The new engines are assisting the railroad materially in the movement of what
coal is being moved and the expenses for the month should show a decided
decrease.</DIV>
