<div><font size="+1" color="#0000FF"><b>DOROTHY DONNELLY USMS SERVICE
AWARDS</b></font></div>
<div>Loree Watanabee of El Camino YMCA Masters and Kerry O'Brien were
awarded the Dorothy Donnelly USMS Service Award at the USMS
Convention. Loree was honored for her work with new members and
fitness swimmers.</div>

<div>Kerry O'Brien was awarded the Dorothy Donnelly USMS Service Award
for his work on the Pacific Masters Coaches Committee and the work
that he has done with the Pacific Masters coaches and coaches in other
LMSCs.</div>

<div><font size="+1" color="#0000FF"><b>WALNUT CREEK MASTERS -
USMS TEAM OF THE YEAR</b></font></div>
<div>Walnut Creek Masters was awarded the USMS 2007 Team of the Year.
They were recognized for their Intensive Training Camp, their great
coaching and the contributions that they make to Masters Swimming.
They were also recognized for the fine showings they have made at USMS
nationals. Head Coach Kerry O'Brien accepted the award and thanked the
House of Delegates and said that he was grateful.</div>

<div>This was the second year the award has been given out.
Congratulations to Walnut Creek.</div>

<div><font size="+1" color="#0000FF"><b>PMS OFFICE CLOSED 11-22
OCTOBER</b></font></div>
<div>The PMS Office will be closed from Thursday, Oct. 11th through
Monday, Oct. 22nd.<br>

<div>Swimmers who have registered by Wed., Oct. 10th will receive a
card but those who applications are not received by then will
have to wait until Nov. 1st for a card. USMS will be
changing over its current registration system to a new web-based
system from Oct. 15th until Nov. 1st. After that, Nancy
can enter new data and send out cards.<br>

<div>The USMS House of Delegates voted a $5.00/year dues increase for
the next year. These funds will be used for the
professionalization of the organization.</div>

SCHEDULE</b></font></div>
<div>The 2008 Pacific Masters Schedule has been posted on the web
site.</div>

METERS CHAMPIONSHIPS</b></font></div>
<div>The Pacific Masters Short Course Meter Championships will be held
19-21 October at the Clarke Swim Center, Heather Farms, Walnut Creek.
Distance events are Friday.</div>

speak to interested PMS Swimmers at The Olympic Club [address]
on Saturday, November 10 from 1-3 pm. Parking in the
neighborhood, including Sutter/Stockton garage, is limited, so
please come early. He will focus on nutrition and
swimming, and achieving optimal workout and race performance
