OCTOBER</b></font></div>
<div>The PMS Office will be closed from Thursday, Oct. 11th through
Monday, Oct. 22nd.<br>

<div>Swimmers who have registered by Wed., Oct. 10th will receive a
card but those who applications are not received by then will
have to wait until Nov. 1st for a card. USMS will be
changing over its current registration system to a new web-based
system from Oct. 15th until Nov. 1st. After that, Nancy
can enter new data and send out cards.<br>

<div>The USMS House of Delegates voted a $5.00/year dues increase for
the next year. These funds will be used for the
professionalization of the organization.</div>

SCHEDULE</b></font></div>
<div>The 2008 Pacific Masters Schedule has been posted on the web
site.</div>

<div>Currently 35 events are planned for the next year. Included in
the schedule are short course yards, long course meters, short course

METERS CHAMPIONSHIPS</b></font></div>
<div>The Pacific Masters Short Course Meter Championships will be held
19-21 October at the Clarke Swim Center, Heather Farms, Walnut Creek.
Distance events are Friday.</div>

swimming, and achieving optimal workout and race performance

Program Purpose & Goals<br>
<br>
The purpose of this program is to provide USMS swimmers with the
best<br>
possible coaching support as they strive for excellence at the
World<br>
Championships in Australia, 2008. We know that many of you do not
have<br>
coaches or whose coaches will not be traveling with them to
Perth-we're here<br>
for you!<br>
<br>
The coaching staff will be available before and during the meet to
provide<br>
these services to USMS swimmers at the meet:<br>
<br>
? Schedule and hold a pre-meet meeting for USMS swimmers on the day
before<br>
the meet.<br>
? Designate an USMS "team area" & hang the USMS banner.
Please sit with us.<br>
? Offer guidance & splits during warm-up to those who desire
it.<br>
? Offer pre-race guidance & post-race comments throughout the meet
to those<br>
who desire it.<br>
? Assist videotaping if possible.<br>
? Offer encouragement as needed.<br>
? Serve as advocate for USMS swimmers regarding protests &
administrative<br>
problems.<br>
? Arrange for team picture(s).<br>
? Perform other coaching tasks as needed.<br>

We welcome all USMS swimmers and coaches present in Perth to join us
at the<br>
meet, in the spirit of fellowship that is United States Masters
Swimming!<br>

swimmers planning to compete at this spring's FINA World Masters
Swimming<br>
Championships in Perth, Australia April 15-25, 2008.<br>
