<div>Congratulations to all Pacific Masters Swimmers who took part in
the XII<br>
FINA World Masters Championships in Perth Australia. There was
great<br>
competition, great races and great comradery.</div>

</b>Pacific Swimmers who did very well include Suzanne Heim-Bowen
(five golds<br>
and a bronze), Laura Val (seven gold - five individual- two relay),
Bobbi<br>
Callison (4 golds and silver), Ken Frost (five golds - three
individual-<br>
two relay), Rich Burns (four gold, two individual, two relay),
Norm<br>
Stupfel took a bronze, John Engs a gold, John Morales - a bronze.
There<br>
were also great results from other Pacific Masters Swimmers. Congrats
to<br>
all who took part.</div>

USMS CHAMPIONSHIPS</b></div>
<div>Pacific Masters Swimmers did very well at the USMS Short Course
Yards Championships held in Austin, Texas last weekend. Swimmers who
medaled are listed at the end of this email. Congratulation to Laura
Val and Roque Santos who both received six gold medals and Robert
Strand and Gloria Stupfel who won five gold meals.<br>

2008 RANSOM ARTHUR AWARD GOES TO BARRY FASBENDER<br>
Barry Fasbender of Palo Alto, California, was presented with USMS's
most prestigious award at the USMS Short Course National Championships
at the University of Texas, Saturday, May 3rd. This award, which is
given in the memory of Ransom J. Arthur, the founder of Masters
swimming, is presented annually to the person who has contributed
greatly to the development of Masters swimming.<br>

DEAN DILLINGHAM, RIP</b></div>
<div>Dean Dillingham passed away last week at the age of 81 after a
courageous battle with cancer. Dean and his wife Jacqui worked at many
many Masters meets over many years, including USMS and Pacific Masters
championships. Their last meet they worked was the XI FINA World
Masters Championships.<br>
<br>
A memorial service for Dean will be held Thursday, May 8 at 11am at St
John's Lutheran Church, Tregallas Road Antioch.</div>

San Mateo Marlins Parkside Mile will be held on May 10th, in

SPRING LAKE</b></div>
<div>The Spring Lake Mile will be at Spring Lake in Petaluma on May

STROKE CLINICS - DAVIS<br>
Davis Aquatic Masters will hold it's Spring Stroke Clinics at the<br>
Civic pool, corner of 5th and B.St. in Davis from 1-2:45 pm on the<br>
following dates:<br>
Sat. May 3 Freestyle, Sat. May 10 Backstroke, Sat. May 17
Butterfly,<br>
Sun. May 18 Breaststroke. Clinics are oriented for the novice
masters<br>
swimmer and include video presentation, stroke explanations and in<br>
water drills. DAM coaching staff and swimmers will help
individuals<br>
in the water. Cost is $10, prepaid, for non-DAM swimmers, $15 at
the<br>
