1. FAMILY GROUP MEETING - Aug 14
Family Group organizational meeting is tomorrow at
7:30 PM at Center. We will be having a short, less
than one hour, meeting on August 14th @ 7:00 p.m., at
the Pride Center.  The purpose of the meeting will be
to get to know each other, trade ideas about upcoming
events, with the strong possibility of having a BBQ 
later in  August/early September, and to help plan
family activities for the Pride Center October 12th
picnic at Rutger's Garden.  Snack and beverages will
be provided.  CHILDREN WELCOME. 

2. OUT OF THE BOX - Aug 15
OOTB open-mic is coming up: Friday, August 15th at
8:00
pm. For the summer, we've decided to keep things even
MORE open and outside the box.  So, come on out to
share whatever you're interested in sharing - ideas or
a joke or a haiku or a conversation or a parlor
game...  :-)  And, of course, all musicians, poets,
comics, songwriters, ranters, tea-bag jugglers and
spoken-worders are totally welcome!  Even OOTB can let
its hair down!  :-)So here's the info: Out of the Box
is sponsored by the Pride Center of NJ and takes place
at: George Street Playhouse, 9 Livingston Avenue
New Brunswick, NJ, directions/info/parking:

$5/$3 for students. Light gnosh and low-octane
beverages provided. Folks with large set-ups, please
contact first for more info. How OOTB works:  Sign up
as you arrive.  Folks on open-mic get between 5-7
minutes (typically) to share whatever they would like
to share.  

3. Tori Amos at PNC Bank Arts Center-Friday, August 22

Tori Amos appearing at the PNC Bank Arts Center on
Friday August 22 with special guest Ben Folds.

4. WOMEN'S PEER SUPPORT GROUP - Aug 28
A Positive, affirming, and empowering environment in
which women share their stories, relate to each other,
and gain insight into a variety of issues to be
explored. Meetings will be on 2nd and 4th Thursdays
from 7:30 pm to 9:00 PM at The Pride Center of NJ.

5.WOMEN'S COFFEE HOUSE - Sept 6
The first Women's Coffee House of the new season and
sponsored by the new WHC committee will be held on
Saturday, September 6th at 7:30 PM.  An exciting night
is expected so come on out for some fun!

6. MOVIE & BOOK GROUP FORMS! - Sept 6
Starting in September on Saturday nights two new
groups will be forming. On the first and third there
will be a movie view and discussion group - the 
first one will be Moulin Rouge. The film starts at 730
pm. On the 2nd week Greg will hold a movie view and
discussion. On the fourth week will be a book
discussion group. The two hosts plan to show and read
a wide variet of films and books in every genre.

7. THE PRIDE CENTER PICNIC, A BARBIE-Q! - Oct 12
The Pride Center of NJ will host it's second annual
Pride Center Picnic - A "BARBIE-Q", on Sunday October
12th from 12 noon to 6 PM. There will be delicious
food, fun games, prizes, cash bar, music and a
wonderful opportunity to explore the beautiful grounds
at the Rutgers Log Cabin and Gardens in North
Brunswick. There is a wonderful nature trail, rustic
1930's log cabin, nearby lake, ornamental gardens and
more!  

Tickets are sold only IN ADVANCE!  Over 100 attended
last year!  So purchase early for you and your
friends. Prices are: Adults - $18, kids 5 to 14 - $12,
under 5 are free.  Send checks payable to "Pride
Center of NJ" to PCNJ/Picnic, PO Box 5130, New
Brunswick, NJ 08903.

8. Wanted: Coffeehouse Leaders/Volunteers!
The Pride Center plans to bring back our popular MEN's
 Coffeehouses this Fall. The Mens' Committee is now
forming. Bring your ideas, time and perhaps talent to
The Pride Center. Call us at 732-846-2232 or e-mail

9. Wanted: Shift Volunteers!
Interested in giving some time back to your community?
The Pride Center needs additional staff volunteers at
our North Brunswick location. Answer phones, greet
visitors, meet new people! A variety of shifts are
available with an emphasis on 7 PM to 10 PM shifts.
