9. DOMESTIC PARTNERSHIP BILL
The Senate vote is expected to be a very tough one.
We need your Senator’s support. Even if you already
have contacted your legislators to state your support
for the bill, please do so again, right now. Visit,
call, FAX or email. You can find your legislators at
http://www.njleg.state.nj.us/members/legsearch.asp
We’ve heard that several Senator’s are wavering in
their support and we need to convince them otherwise.
To send an email:
http://www.njlgc.org/writenow.html. Ask your friends,
family, and in-state mailing lists to do the same.
The bill number is S2820. Even leaving messages on
assembly members' district office phones would be
helpful.
As a side note, a friend of mine, new to advocacy,
attended the Assembly hearings in Trenton last week
and approached his Assemblyman to talk about Domestic
Partnership. This Assemblyman was adamantly opposed
to Domestic Partnership but ended up voting yes for
the legislation. Such is the power of personal
communication. Please, please, please make the effort
now!
George J. Tomczyk, HRC Greater New York Steering
Committee Chair, New Jersey Lesbian and Gay Coalition
Domestic Partnership Task Force
