2. LGMNB - Sept 14
Lesbians & Gay Men of New Brunswick. 2nd and 4th
Tuesdays at 8 PM.  Drop-in social and refreshments.
Open to all. 

3. MEN'S COMING OUT GROUP - Sept 15
A moderated discussion group for men addressing coming
out issues. Discussion topics are decided weekly by
attendees. $2 donation. Please be over 18 years of
age.  Every Wednesday from 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM.

4. MENS PEER SUPPORT GROUP - Sept 16
First and Third Thursday  - Social, 7:30pm – 9:00pm
Second and Fourth Thursday – Peer Support,7:30pm –
9:00pm On the first and third Thursday of each month,
the Men’s Peer Support Group will be an informal
social gathering with speakers, films, and activities.
 On the second and fourth Thursdays, a facillitator
will lead the Men’s Peer Support Group in a discussion
of a variety of subjects selected by the group
members.

5. OUT OF THE BOX - Sept 17
The NEXT OOTB on September 17th features 
CASSENDRE XAVIER a singer and recording artist
currently based in Philadelphia, PA. Some words to
describe her sound are: "healing", "inspring,"
"sexy",and "a cross between Tracy Chapman, Sade, and
Enya". She has 3 full-length CDs which are available
at www.CDbaby.com and will be adding a forth to the
repertoire by September 2004! Also: OOTB now provides
a KEYBOARD!  Calling all Piano-Players!  Come on Down!

6. SALGA! - Sept 18
The South Asian Lesbian and Gay Association (SALGA-
NJ) warmly invites you to our support group meeting.
The next meeting will be held: 
Date: Saturday, Aug 21
Time: 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm 
Place: The Pride Center of New Jersey, 
1048 Livingston Avenue 
North Brunswick, NJ 08902 
For directions see below. 
The objective of the meeting is to provide a safe
space for people where they can freely discuss and
share aspects of their experiences as gay, lesbian,
bisexual, transgender and questioning individuals.
This meeting space is available for people who trace
their descent from countries such as Afghanistan,
Bangladesh, Bhutan, Burma, India, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri
Lanka and Tibet as well as people of South Asian
descent from other regions, including but not limited
to the West Indies, Africa, Southeast Asia, Canada and
the U.K. 
A facilitator will guide the meeting and provide the
opportunity for open dialogue about issues important
to the participants.  Individuals can decide on their
own level of involvement.
It is the hope of SALGA that you would feel welcome in
this gathering and be able meet and make friends with
people who can better understand, share and empathize
with you. If you can't make it this month, note that
the group meets on the third Saturday of every month,
same time, same place.

7. CAPITAL RAINBOWFEST - Sept 19
Capital Rainbowfest, the annual Trenton Gay Pride
event, will be held on Sunday, September 19, 2004 in
Trenton's picturesque and historic Mill Hill
Park. Capital Rainbowfest features live music and
entertainment, merchants and artisans, business
services and community organizations, a wide variety
of food and drink, and a kidspace activity area. 
The festival will run from 1-6 p.m. rain or shine and
there is a $5 suggested donation.

8. FOR THE SENIORS - Sept 20
We have a new group for LGBTIQ seniors. From this
group, the Pride Center hopes to develop a whole array
of programs and services for LGBTIQ seniors. Held 1st
and 3rd Mondays of each month at The Pride Center of
NJ.

9. RUTGERS PRIDE EVENTS - Sept 23
Rutgers is celebrating 35 years of Lesbian, Gay,
Bisexual and Transgender Pride and Activism at the
35th Anniversary Convocation on September 23rd at
10:00 AM at Kirkpatrick Chapel - Old Queens Campus.  A
luncheon will follow the ceremony in the Graduate
Student Lounge of the Rutgers Student Center. Please

hofmanj at rci.rutgers.edu. That evening at 7 PM, The
RU/BiGLARU Queer Reception will be held in the Rutgers
College Student Center Lounge on College Avenue, New
Brunswick. Kate Clinton will perform.

10. WOMEN'S PEER GROUP - Sept 28
A positive, affirming and empowering environment in
which women share their stories, relate to each other
and gain insight into a variety of issues to be
explored. Held on 2nd and 4th Thursdays from 7:30 pm
to 9:00 pm at The Pride Center of NJ. For more

11. VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR POSITION OPEN
Responsible for coordinating the recruitement and
general management of the Volunteers.   Also reviews
and responds to all new Volunteer applications and
files them appropriately, interviews new applicants,
tracks their ongoing participation, and mentors other
coordinators.  The Volunteer Coordinator also
maintains the Volunteer List and shift schedule, and
coordinates all Volunteer training.

12. BOWL-A-THON- Oct 16
What: A FUNdraising event to support the Pride Center
of NJ.
When: Saturday October 16th
Time: 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM (sign-up at 6:00 PM)
Where: Brunswick Zone Carolier, 790 Rt 1 North, No
Brunswick, 732-846-2424
Event: Includes 2 games of bowling and shoes.  Post
bowling dinner/appetizers planned.
Cost: $25 / person or more. Goal is for each bowler to
raise $100 in sponsership money.

13. Honor 2004 - Oct 16
Honor 2004, New Jersey's Annual Gay, Lesbian, 
Bisexual, Transgendered and Intersexed Awards Banquet,
including dinner, the awards, dancing and a silent
auction, will be held on October 16, 2004, at the
Somerset Marriot. Richard Skipper, as Carole Channing,
will emcee the evening. The doors open at 6pm for 
cocktail hour; dinner and awards begin at 7pm. 
This year, six remarkable individuals will be 
recognized for their contributions to NJ's GLBTI 
community. 
The D. Bennett Mazur Award, established in 1992 and 
first awarded at Honor 1993, recognizes those 
individuals who, at extreme risk to themselves, have
nevertheless made sustained and profound contributions
to transforming our society. Receiving the D. Bennett
Mazur Award this year is Assemblywoman Loretta
Weinberg, the prime sponsor of NJ's groundbreaking
Domestic Partnership Legislation, and successor to the
Assembly seat of Assemblyman D. Bennett Mazur himself.
Established in 1988 and first awarded in 1989, the 
Honor Award recognizes people who have worked for the
betterment of the LGBTI community through a single
significant effort or a sustained period of
transforming work. The recipients of this year's Honor
Award are: Barbra Casbar, Steven Goldstein, Sally
Blakely-Komar, Steve Mershon, and Gary Paul Wright. 
Please join the New Jersey Lesbian and Gay Coalition 
and our Personal Liberty Fund as we honor these 
individuals at this event. For more information about

14. ANNUAL BRUNCH - Nov 21
What:  2nd Annual Donor/Volunteer Awards Brunch
When:  Sunday, November 21, 2004
Where:  Private home of Janet Green, 16 Ridge Road,
Tewksbury Township, NJ
Directions to 16 Ridge Road in Tewksbury Township:
NJ Route 287 Northbound or Southbound
Merge onto I-78 WEST via exit number 21B- on the left-
toward EASTON PA.
Route 78 Westbound
Take Exit 24 "Oldwick, Route 523 & Route 517"
At end of the ramp, make a RIGHT onto Routes 523/517
North.
Continue on Route 517 after Route 523 splits off.
>From the Route 78 exit, travel approximately 4.4 miles
on Route 517.
You'll go through the small town of Oldwick before you
head up a long incline. Watch  your speed as the
posted limit changes about 4 times as you head into
town.  
Just past Old Turnpike Middle School on the left,
Make a LEFT turn onto SAWMILL ROAD
Follow Sawmill Road past the Sawmill Elementary School
Bear LEFT at the fork and about 300 feet later,
Make a LEFT onto MOUNTAIN ROAD and go over the quaint
stone bridge
Further up there's a 90-degree turn to the left and at
that point Mountain Road turns into RIDGE ROAD.
16 Ridge Road will be on the left at the top of the
hill.  Look for the green mailbox with flowers painted
on it. The house number appears on the mailbox post.
When:  12 Noon – 3PM

100% of it's profits to programs for women in early
recovery from alcohol and drug addiction)

15. YOUTH GROUP EXPANDING 
The Pride Center's Youth Drop-In is expanding starting
September from every 4th Saturday from 1-4 PM to every
2nd and 4th Saturday from 1-4 PM.  All LGBTIQQ Youth
(17 and under) and their allies are welcome. 
Additional Adult advisors needed.  

16. MISCELLANY
Hope you are having a fun, safe summer!

Tuesdays for LGMNB's regular drop-in socials - all
welcome. 
Under The Rainbow - 2nd and 4th Wednesdays at 7:30 PM
GRAANJ - 1st Sundays from 1 PM to 5 PM
LYC-NJ is hosting their ANNIVSERARY PARTY on Saturday
October 9th at 7:00 PM at The Pride Center. A dinner
will be served, music, fun. For Gay Asians and their
