2. Mr CHARLES, Currently of Palm Beach - June 23,24
Mr. Charles, currently of Palm Beach, Florida, brings
his cable access show, "Too Gay," to the Kelsey
Theatre on the campus of Mercer County Community
College, Friday, June 23rd and Saturday, June 24th
only. Mr. Charles, along with his "ward," Shane, will
take audience questions and explain (among other
things) exactly what causes homosexuality; which
Superheroes are the hottest and the Complete History
of Gay Theatre in 60 Seconds.
Mr. Charles, Currently of Palm Beach, by playwright
Paul Rudnick (Jeffrey; The Most Fabulous Story Ever
Told; I Hate Hamlet), is one of two hilarious, one-act
comedies being presented by the James Tolin Memorial
Fund as part of their 4th annual fund raising event.
Also on the evening's bill is The Altruists, a black
comedy by absurdist New York playwright, Nicky Silver
(Pteradactyls; Fat Men in Skirts; The Food Chain).
In The Altruists, we are introduced to a group of
young radicals, who live to protest. Funded by Sydney,
a neurotic and anorexic soap star, Ethan, Ronald and
Cybil have high ideals, but ultimately base
priorities. Ronald, who is Sydney's brother, has
fallen in love with Lance, a young hustler he met the
night before. Meanwhile, Sydney's boyfriend, Ethan, is
sleeping with their militant lesbian friend, Cybil. At
the end of her rope, Sydney snaps and commits a crime
that may cost all of them their meal-ticket. The
shows' casts include: Jody Person; Antonio Aczayus;
Melissa Abrahams; Damian Geatz; Katie Pierce; Josiah
DeAndrea; Jillian Richie and Brady Neiderer. The
curtain rises at 8:00 PM on the two comedies, both
directed by Yours Truly.
Over the past three years, the annual JTMF Event has
raised over $20,000 for The Open Arms Foundation,
Graffiti Productions and The James Tolin Memorial
Scholarship at MCCC. The Event also includes a silent
auction of donated gifts from local and national
businesses and organizations and a catered cocktail
reception with live music by "New Atlantis" after the
show. Bidding starts at 7:00 PM in the Kelsey Theatre
lobby. Tax-deductable Event tickets are $35.00 in
advance and $40.00 at the door. Advance orders can be
placed through our website: www.jtmf.org; at the
Kelsey Theatre website: www.kelseyatmccc.org; by
calling the Kelsey Box Office at 609-584-9444 or in
the lobby, one hour before curtain. The Kelsey is
located at Mercer County Community College, 1200 Old
Trenton Road in West Windsor, NJ. Easy directions to
the Kelsey can be found at both of the above websites.
Please join us for this most worthwhile cause, and
help celebrate the life and spirit of local actor
James Tolin, who was lost to HIV in 2002.

tax-deductible donation, we accept PayPal at our
