From skilover at bluebottle.com Mon Oct 16 11:33:48 2006 From: skilover at bluebottle.com (Chuck) Date: Mon Oct 16 11:33:58 2006 Subject: [pssh-users] Trouble connecting to server using pubkey authentication Message-ID: <4533A65C.8050900@bluebottle.com> -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi all. I'm new to this list so please forgive me if this has already been asked before but I have not found a way to search the archives. I've just installed the 2005-06-23 version of pssh on my Treo 650. I also installed an unencrypted (shuddering) copy of my public key and imported via the memo method as described. When I try to connect to a my home server which is set up to only allow pubkey authentication, I get the following messages and the connection closes before I ever get a terminal session. Logging in to host 'myhostname' Authenticating (none) failed ... failed Authenticating (publickey) ... Connection Closed Can anyone tell me what's going wrong? I can use the same key to log in to the server with cygwin OpenSSH or Putty from my laptop. Just can't get in with pssh. I'm using an RSA keypair. The only authentication method allowed on the server is pubkey and that's also the only authentication method I have enabled in pssh's connection settings. If I enable anything else I don't even get as far as above. I just get to "authentication (none) ... failed" and it closes the connection right away. What am I doing wrong? BTW you should probably change the menu option from "public keys" to private keys as that is what the client stores and uses for authentication.
