you may recall i posted about prince's acuemen on guitar after seeing him
live a couple years ago. well, a dvd from that tour has been released, and
its showing on direct tv (channel 103) for free this month (ala EC's LA show
last year from his dvd). anyways, 2 points of interest:

50 minutes in, he and his band do an interesting version of zeppelins "whole
lotta love" with a nice 2 minute solo, but the highlight was the closing
blues number "if you got the time, i got the ride". stunning solo with his
band reduced to a 4 piece, and an all female rhythm section (sheila e on
drums).

also, maceo parker appears for a jazz song at some point during the hour and
15 minute presentation. enjoy!!

ps david bowie fans, there is also a concert of his from this past sept in
london showing this month on direct tv for free, also.....
