Hi all,
It's nice to have this absolutely very important and
totally serious conversation once again.
DeltaNick I agree on almost all of your well spoken
points. I feel, that NBTB -tour has been the highpoint
of Clapton's incredible career.
I know EC is lazy and he's been that way always: Many
of the Cream shows are guite boring and that's because
our Eric isn't up to his godlike standards.(that's
human, I think)
Then there's always those supershows, (that happen all
too seldom) when EC takes the "guitar god" attitude
and you're in for a concert expereinece of a lifetime.
In my 35 years of Clapton gigs I've seen two of those
(1995 and 2001) and it's special.
You can hear recordings of such shows for instance on:
Club Full of Blues (1994), Seoul Second Night (1997),
We'll Try Our Best (2001).
Here's my modest point: Clapton is still one of the
best performers ever, but you can't be a god fulltime.
Cheers
Ande
p.s. I've shown Concert for George DVD for my family
and friends and all have come off happy although with
tears in their eyes (but not because Eric had some
problems with his guitar tone ;*))
