For the record I don't agree - about the Portland show. The construction and tone of the songs and the solos were for the most part the same as at other shows, the only difference being that on a Strat Eric's solos flow, but at this show the solos were somewhat hesitant. Perhaps he didn't find his way around the fretboard as easily, having rehearsed and toured with Strats.

However another overlooked thing is that plain and simple, eric's guitar
(strat) doesn't show off his playing properly. Listen to the the Portland
2001 boot.. all gibson electric playing, ES--335 and Les paul for the last
few numbers before Rainbow.. Immensely different playing, his style is
pretty much the same, but the equipment flatters EC more than any other
artist.. I mean.. jeff beck pretty much sounds the same wheter or not he's
playing a tele or strat... clapton however, sounds miles different on strat
vs any gibson guitar...
