Hello All,
Greetings from the road! Left Virginia late Friday and drove to Cleveland - anyone who hasn't been in the Blue Ridge mountains at sundown hasn't lived. One important safety tip while driving - don't listen to the version of "Blues Power" from the 1983 Hammersmith shows or you may involuntarily use the accelerator as a wah-wah pedal which will cause consternation among the other drivers. You have been warned.
I joined Steve "Goldzilla" Proctor in Cleveland and we were fortunate to stay at the SW Annex of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame located at the home of Tracy and Sam Mangano - yes folks, the SD's own Sambo#8 ! The Hard Rock Cafe's got nothing on this place. We went in to check out the HoF proper, nice place, much better than I expected. The EC exhibit proper isn't much but overall it's a worthy trip. One note, they do show a 50 minute presentation featuring clips of all the inductees. Good grief, Brenda LEE is in there? Or is that Sarah Lee? One of 'em makes cakes, and the other should have. This one I don't understand. And folks, it gets better ... then you come to the one person who has been inducted three times, EC, and out of a 41 year professional career, hundreds of album credits, awards, records broken, thousands of hours of performances, and what do they show to represent EC's career? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Yep. "Wonderful Tonight". I'm beginning to wonder if th
is is nothing but an elaborate joke foisted on us all.
One other thing, with all the comments about EC's "Grafitti" strats, the city of Cleveland is covered with them ... all about 8 feet tall of course. Very cool, all decorated by different artists to benefit a charity. EC should pick one up to put in the yard in front of his pad!
Now the concert ...
