There was some discussion on the list about Clapton's talents.
Here's a quote from Mojo-Magazine (issue 4) March 1994.

Tom Dowd (Atlantic engineer, producer of Cream, Derek & Dominos and number of EC's solo albums) on Clapton:

"Eric absolutely scared me in the Cream days. I saw Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie and Fats Navarro; Eric was as fast as any jazz musician, a master of his instrument.... he never played the same solo twice. As he got older I thought he would slow down or fall into pattern - but he didn't.
Now he scares me more than ever: a monster, the complete performer. Band leader, player, singer, songwriter - he's mastered every element!"
