Hi all,
Just an excerpt from an interview with a young Belgian bicycle racer, called
Francesco Planckaert . He is a young racer at the beginning of a career as a
professional, but his father (Eddy Planckaert) has had a great career, in
which he won the green jersey in the Tour de France, and some big races like
Paris-Roubaix .
After having been forced to stop cycling due to a problem with his back,
Eddy invested his money in a wood business in Latvia, which went broke, and
so he returned to Belgium, trying to make some money with a small guest
house, and being the main person in a reality soap (comparable to the
Ozbournes) . Of course, Francesco also appears in the series, and as such
has gained some popularity which he tried to exploit by releasing a single
"We're doing allright" ... his first passion is music, not racing . Anyway,
in an interview he said the following :
"... I have another good reason for wanting to become a really big racer : I
want to earn the respect of Lance Armstrong . That done, I'll ask him to
introduce me to his GF Sheryl Crow, who was once the GF of Eric Clapton .
She could then bring me into contact with her ex, and if that God would
listen for just one minute to the blues that I wrote here on top of a hill
in the Ardennes, I'll be forever grateful to bicycle racing . All music I
write is meant to be listened to by Eric Clapton . ..."
and a bit further he answers the following to the question " And what music
you listen to while training ?"
"Race against the Machine helps me to get through the pain limit . And
besides that, some live CD's from Eric Clapton, Dire Straits and Gary Moore
."
I just thought this was fun to know,
Eddy
