[Slowhand] Speaking of "Badge"

Speaking of "Badge," why do you suppose Eric sometimes makes a face when he starts the song?
I've noticed it in "The Cream of Clapton" and the "Hyde Park" DVDs.  Is it a quizzical, "this song's popularity is beyond my belief" or something else?
