Record industry insiders will tell you it's not Clapton but his handlers who are holding up a reunion. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it," says one record industry executive who wishes to remain anonymous. "His managers don't want to risk Clapton's commercial appeal. They've succeeded in making people think Clapton was Cream, when he was only a third of it. Reuniting the band now would just take the emphasis off Clapton."
