Once again, I saw this on another list and thought there would be some
interest here. Below is the recent review of this book printed in the
January issue of "Southern Living" magazine.

Clapton's Guitar: Watching Wayne Henderson Build the Perfect Instrument
by Allen St. John (Free Press, $25)
Ask this craftsman how to make a guitar, and he responds, "Well you get a
pile of really nice wood and a sharp whittling knife. Then you just carve
away everything that isn't a guitar." A noted bluegrass musician himself,
Wayne uses a penknife to carve his custom creations in Rugby, Virginia
(population 7).
Only about 300 Henderson guitars exist. The handmade masterpieces are in
such high demand, clients ranging from Wayne's buddies to guitar virtuoso
Eric Clapton wait at least 10 years before getting their hands on one.
It's great fun to follow author Allen St. John as he watches (and
occasionally helps) the craftsman create Clapton's guitar. You'll covet
along with the author as he pines for the day when his name
will reach the top of the waiting list.
Clapton's Guitar delivers a fascinating tale that's bound to leave you
longing for a Henderson of your own. Lauren Arieux
