Well, that's probably not his best performance ever but there is something
unique and relax about this gig that makes the interest (and I am not only
talking about Eric's red suit white shoes combination). Make me think about
those small venues when Eric joins Gary Brooker for new year eve parties.

There is positively very nice guitar work by Eric on this DVD, would it be
on his set or when he's backing other artists. Dispite he is not soloing on
2 of his own songs, Eric's performance can be fully appreciated even if
someone else takes the solo (and in this case Andy FWL is playing his ass
off and sax on Willie is bloody groovy).

I never clearly realized that before RAH this year. It was just great to
hear Eric performing all those songs from his back catalogue ; would it be
accoustics tracks or a no solo track. I think Eric became mature enough as a
singer and songwriter to look at the global performance and not just the
guitar solo part (check out the beautifull "I am yours").

Take the Concert for Georges, I don't remember there was any major (solo)
guitar work on this but Eric's presency is amazing. Anyway, I am one of
those who don't regret to have buy the Scotty Moore at Abbey Road DVD even
if Eric only sings 3 songs with his accoustic (no solo).

PS : To be honest, I didn't pay much attention to the other songs and
performers but Paul Carrack appears to be a pretty good "soul" singer and
Ringo could not be that bad.

While I haven't picked it up yet, here's a review by a friend, who was quite
disappointeed:

DeltaNick

"Hmmm ... buy this at your own risk, I suppose. I LIKE the actual band,
particularly Gary Brooker, always a favorite. They're nice and loopy, pretty
enjoyable. They're really fun to watch and listen to. I'd actually pay to
hear this band. Dave Bronze on bass, Hernry Spinetti on drums ... nice
band. "Clapton ..."Reconsider Baby", he doesn't do much with it but its OK,
but the other two songs in his first set he does NO solos at all ("Willie"
and "Lay Down Sally"). Zip. Andy Fairweather whatever takes the solos.
Huh?

"I kinda skipped over most of the next sections ... the girl singer is cute,
but the same warbly "I'm rootsy and cute" type like Jewel, etc. Ringo does
his usual crap. No idea who Roger Taylor is, I skip it, too blow-dried for
me.

"So then comes "Stormy Monday" - Clapton's back, and he's really starting to
play some cool stuff, actually, QUITE good, I'd even say excellent , except
...

"He's drowned out by that goof on a TROMBONE of all things. Clapton's
heating things up, and this old fart is bleating away, all over ANYTHING
cool that Clapton is trying to play, guitar or vocal. Sounds like a water
buffalo being strangled!

"Look, you know I generally like horn SECTIONS, horn PARTS, but trombone
solos are just SLIGHTLY more interesting than drum solos or tuba solos. I
know this guy is famous for SOMETHING in England, but ... leave the damn
thing in the case and play a tambourine or something. NO ONE wants to hear
some bleating trombone solo, particularly while Clapton is FINALLY having a
decent moment in this show."
