[Slowhand] 1973 Rainbow Theatre Shows: Opening Act

About a month back someone asked whether the Average White Band was the
opening band for the Clapton's Rainbow Concerts in 1973. 

 

Well from this statement by John Pidgeon (Let It Rock - February 1973),
it would appear as though the AWB  opened for the first show only:
"There were two shows at the Rainbow on Saturday, the first begun by the
support group, the Average White Band, at five-thirty."

 

Hope that clears that bit of history, unless you were there and know
differently.
