There's an interesting interview with Eric Clapton (this particular
portion is among the bonus material) on the "To Tulsa and Back - On Tour
with J.J. Cale" DVD:

Eric Clapton: "We (he and J.J. Cale) did an album in the studio - I've
never heard it. He called me up when I was in LA about 15 / 20 years ago
and I went to a studio in the Valley and we cut maybe 15 tracks - live.
Everyone in little booths. Jim Keltner on drums and different people - I
don't remember who all the other musicians were.

"He was a bit like Dylan - where he doesn't tell you what he's going to
do. He starts it - he starts singing and you get onboard real quickly
and you find a thing to do. And at the end of it - that's it. You don't
say, "Why don't we do another take?" He doesn't ask anybody if they
liked it or if it's all right. You just do the next one. And we were
there for about 2 or 3 hours and I never heard that stuff again. So its
all in the garage - I suppose - I don't know."
