Hi everyone,
I've enjoyed reading the comments from Rick and Mel about the San Jose show. I also enjoyed the get-together prior to the show. Betsy had printed an Eric Clapton Head On A Stick from my website! It makes me glad that Al Gore invented the Internet.
The big treat of the evening was "Why Does Love Got To Be So Sad" since I had never heard it performed live. The interplay between Eric and Derek was remarkable. I had heard "Little Wing" at the Crossroads Benefit in 1999, but this performance was so much better. For one thing, David Sanborn didn't tarnish the song with an over-the-top solo. "Motherless Children" is the song that turned me from a fan to a fanatic, so it is always special for me.
Pictures from the show are on www.slowhand.net (direct link = www.slowhand.net/showpicv.htm for those who don't want to navigate). The pictures are OK, but I seriously need a camera like Sam's.
And finally, the Heads On A Stick were quite a hit. Derek and Doyle spotted them right away and laughed at various times during the show. Steve Jordan pointed them out to Derek...as did Mr. Clapton who laughed and gave us a thumbs up.
Thanks to Lauren for the Crossroads 2 info. I'll be there!
Steve
