[Slowhand] RIP, Charlotte Coliseum

Today, I lost an old friend.  The Charlotte Coliseum was imploded this morning.  Almost from its birth, there was talk of replacing it.  The Charlotte Hornets were constantly whining about needing a new, state-of-the-art venue and they eventually went to New Orleans.

I never saw any problem with the Charlotte Coliseum.  What I did see was Eric Clapton - in 2001, 1998, 1995, 1992 and 1990.  The 1990 show was his 45th birthday and brief footage of that show was featured on the news tonight.  I saw Bruce Springsteen at the Charlotte Coliseum in 2005, 2002, 2000 and 1992.  During the 2000 show, he actually handed his guitar to a fan in the front row.  I also saw the Stones, REM, U2, Van Halen, ZZ Topp, and the Allman Brothers at the Charlotte Coliseum.  :-(
