>Slowhanders, I've never heard anyone talk about this Clapton DVD before on the Digest. If it was discussed, I just missed it. So, for those of you who are unaware, it is worth getting. See review below............ Cheers,Joey Jay THIS SONG FOR GEORGE !!! This concert was filmed for Japanese television on December 4th 2001, just 5 days after the death of George Harrison, hence the title. Eric dedicates "Badge" to George (referred to as "Budge" in the sleevenotes - see later). The only reason this DVD does not get 5 stars is the mono soundtrack - even though it is excellent quality.

>

>The concert is from Eric's 2001 World Tour and there is a DVD release filmed on the tour in Los Angeles called "One More Car, One More Rider". There are slight differences in both personell and setlists. Billy Preston plays on "One More Car, One More Rider", whereas Greg Phillinganes plays on "This Song for George". "This Song for George" interestingly features both the acoustic "Layla" (replacing "My Father's Eyes") and the electric version and "Five Long years" replaces "Have You Ever Loved A Woman". Eric also plays a very different improvised intro to "Change The world" on this release. And, of course, there is no "Will It Go Round I n Circles", since that featured Billy Preston. Eric also plays a different hand-painted strat to the one used in "One More Car, One More Rider" as well as a gold painted strat for the encore song "Sunshine Of Your Love"

The sleeve notes on the back of the DVD are quite amusing since they appear to be a "Pigeon English" translation from a Japanese review - quote - ""She's Gone" was played very hard. Of cause, it was very good. Then he took off his glass after this song." Do not let this put you off this release - apart from the mono soundtrack, it is excellent.

>Slowhanders, I just saw that this DVD is listed on Mark's site. So I guess everyone is aware of it. And my previous post is old news. I had never seen the This Song For George DVD in the stores until last week. So was just sharing. Joey Jay

>My girlfriend recently traveled to Shanghai on business. Since I was forcing myself to read Pattie Boyd's autobiography before starting Eric's, I loaned her "Clapton: The Autobiography." On her way back, she was seated near Colin Farrell. He kept reading the Clapton autobiography over her shoulder and even said he would love to have it when she finished. But since it belonged to me, she politely declined.
