[Slowhand] What are the requirements for being Knighted ?

Do you think Clapton should be Knighted?  Upon what merits ?   They give this 
out to a lot of British musicians, but Clapton has expanded his  horizons 
with the Crossroads Antigua Center as well as that place they recent  purchased 
in Florida.   But, why hasn't he purchased & built  something in the UK ? 
 
Maybe someday he can create a center in Croatia ?    But, who will pay for 
it... Perhaps a mega tour of Eastern Europe, multiple  shows in one location.
 
I myself was thinking along lines of being a step above, as in being "A  
Royal Ambassador to the Queen",
since he's accomplished so much work in the field of Drug & Alcohol  
Treatment.   
 
Why the RAQ or what's a better term ?  The Queens Emissary.
 
What do you guys think ?
