Very good show at the House of Blues on Wed 2/11! Before the show, I googled
"trucks stage manager" and found a guy on "linked in" with a photo. When I
saw him hanging out by the bus, I introduced myself, told him I shot a lot
of pictures and had provided a CD to derek's business manager last year, and
if it wouldn't be too much trouble, could he get one of my 8x10's signed? He
was very nice, said "no problem", and told me to seek him out after the
show.
Very interesting show, outstanding lights to compliment the music. He did a
wide variety of songs, including about 3 blues tunes. I was even more
impressed with this band than I was at Crossroads Chicago. I included some
pictures (not very good, as there wasn't a lot of "white light" which is
good for photos) for your enjoyment. He saw the Head on a Stick crafted by
Dr Proctor and gave me a smile
After the show, I got my signed photo back while they were breaking down the
stage (about 20 minutes after they left the stage). In exchange, I gave the
stage manager the head on a stick. He said that they were great, but
couldn't remember where he saw it before. I told him "San Jose" and then he
remembered it.
On the way out, there was a long line at the merchandise stand, which I
thought was kinda weird. However, at the front was Derek, signing things,
talking with people, taking pictures, etc. So, I waited another 20 minutes,
introduced myself to him and his bass player Todd, thanked him for signing
the picture I had left for him, and asked to take a picture with him. Not
having the head on a stick on me anymore, I didn't bother bringing it up
that I was the guy waving it in the crowd. Both he and Todd thanked "US" for
coming, and he stayed until the last fan in line got to meet him.
The show was taped and already is up on bt.etree.org according to Mark
Deavult, so enjoy!!
Regards,
Sam
