[Slowhand] TRUE OR EMBELLISHMENT?

Saw Paul McCartney last night at FEDEX field here in the DC metro area and
after a rousing rendition of Let Me Roll It, he launched into a little
interlude of Foxy Lady, his tribute to Jimi as he put it. As he continued
talking about Hendrix and his time in London Paul made mention of how
impressed he was by the fact that Jimi had learned Sgt. Peppers and played
it live at a Sunday evening show which occurred after the Friday release of
Peppers. The laugh he got out of the crowd, however, was his description of
Hendrix wailing away on his guitar, banging on it and wringing the hell out
of the whammy bar until such time as he pulled it completely out of tune.
At that, he apparently asked if Eric was in the audience and could he tune
his guitar.
Anybody ever hear this before and is there any truth to it or was it just
Macca taking a little poetic license?
Cheers,
Jeff
BTW, McCartney simply rocked. For 2 and ¾ hours. Fabulous to say the
least.
