I've got the gold disc version (MFSL not DCC) and one of the versions that
has the mono and stereo together (I forget which year). As a general
matter, think that mono sounds better since that's how most artists
envisioned and mixed their lps in the 60s. For example, the drums in
Fresh Cream (I have it on lp) JUMP out at you and are very heavy. Same as
the mono DGears dual format cd.

BUT on the beano album I think at times there's better clarity in stereo
(as a general matter) as I can hear more of the guitar parts. I think
some of the mono mix is muddy sounding and/or that certain guitars are too
quiet, All Your Love is a good example. In stereo you get a HUGE sound
out of the rhythm guitar on the right channel and on the keyboard. Same
on Hideaway, MUCH more keyboards on the stereo mix.

THEN AGAIN, as I listen to this as I type, I think Little Girl sounds
great in MONO, there's a lot more distortion on the main guitar part.

I really like the MONO solo on Double Crossing there's points on the mono
mix that just sound good and dirty.

Skipping ahead, Ramblin' on My Mind sounds like it has way more punch in
Mono.

Steppin' Out -- IMHO the stereo version is better sounding, I can hear the
horns better, etc. And the guitar is just so dirty and distorted, 1:22 to
2:00 just about just kills me, especially 135 to the end. WOW.

What are your thoughts?
