[Slowhand] Blind Faith Festival (that never happened)

Kevin,

I attended the Blind Faith concert at Madison Square Garden on 12 July 1969. There was no riot -- I repeat, NO RIOT -- at the concert.

There was a small incident during which a police officer may have slightly manhandled a concertgoer who got on stage or attempted to get on the stage. My recollection is that Ginger Baker tossed one of his drumsticks at the police officer. After some 20 or 30 seconds, everyone calmed down and the concert continued. There were no arrests, and nobody was taken away. Simply put, there was NO riot. A recording of the concert proves what I write here.

Imagine my surprise when a week or two later "Rolling Stone" published an article indicating that there was a riot at the concert.

Don't always believe everything you read in the press.

P.S. Another myth: Bob Dylan did NOT get booed off the stage when he "went electric" at the Newport Folk Festival in 1965. The recordings of the event prove this one too.
