[Slowhand] It's all good

Hi guys, okay okay okay, so I went a little overboard with my last message. Using the word insult about the new album cover, and yes, light blue plastic about that Stratocaster. THE Stratocaster. But it was written in the fury of the moment, something which I have done many, many times before - but then held it back for a few minutes, having let the steam out, then regretting the harsh words on my main man for twenty years now, hitting Do Not Send; and I walk away with no harm done to anyone. And saving face.
Sometimes you just say a lot of stuff that you don't mean that much, you know.
I guess it's stupid to put the book down judging it by it's cover. You got me there. I just felt let down by it, all the slickness in production and the protools, taking all the soul and ambience out of Escondido, Back Home, One More Car (or was that the synthesizers...), to a degree Reptile (coz I think that was a step in the right direction and could have sounded INCREDIBLE without Climie and Ptools) and I could go on, with the things on MY personal list. So that cover just got to me that morning. Coz I was yet again setting myself up for a new record that could be something good. Like they recorded it in a bar or something, gave Clapton some shitty equipment - and we could hear that voice and those licks on a double album. A double album. When I first read about that, I thought; this is new, this must be out of the normal. A double studio album! Why do I keep hoping that every time? Well, I'll buy it for sure. Like I bought Back Home. And there'll be stuff I'm gonna like on the new one, too.
But anyway, I didn't delete my furious message that Saturday morning - coz I thought that it might wake up a few people, and we could have some EC talk again. And it did. Thanks for the off-list comments, too - talked to some great guys suddenly, some great exchanges.
I checked in to read the Digest today mainly to hear a few words on the Crossroads Festival at the movies. But this list is a lil' slow these days. Could it be some people got off the train heading to Walmart Heaven with Plastic Guitars and Mobile Phones when it stopped at another Cocaine and Crossroads with backup-singers and synthesizers? Well, I'm still here and right now listening to EC play some incredible soulful stuff on Billy Preston's studio version of That's The Way God Planned It - and I still don't feel like deleting that grumpy, unfair message posted after I went to the best Clapton source around, The Eric Clapton Music News page. Where's Where's Eric??
Left alone to cry while he goes out rocking....
Brian Tronsgaard. (Fellow Slowhander)
