I think we are all intrigued by the album title because we are DYING for
something new sounding. I don't know what to expect because all of his
recent albums have been covers if you really think about.
What is "interesting" (for the lack of a better word) about the "Clapton"
title is that all other albums have had some link to the title. See if
you agree with how I break them down below.
What's the link to "Clapton", a full circle by way of "Eric Clapton"?
Back Home (his desire to be home)
Reptile (according to Amazon.com "A reptile, according to Eric Clapton, is
something of a bloke, as in some local character you might share a pint
with down at the pub.")
Pilgrim (according to Amazon.com "Its title isn't casual: These are
elliptical meditations on the ravages of time, as preoccupied with matters
of the spirit as affairs of the heart").
one more car one more driver (original nonsensical title of August)
>From the Cradle (EC said "All along this path I tread, my heart betrays my
weary head; with nothing but my love to save, from the cradle to the
grave....").
Journeyman (about his path over life)
August (birth of Connor)
Behind the Sun (song title from LP but indicative of his feelings)
Money and Cigarrettes (slamming? the "machine" and big tour sponsors?)
Another Ticket (?)
Just One Night (a concert recording)
Backless (joke about Bob Dylan)
No Reason to Cry (? over empty booze or a broken guitar pick?)
There's One in Every Crowd (a joke that falls flat)
461 (address)
