Received the new RR album in the post the other day. I would certainly recommend it, even if Clapton hadn't been involved. The deluxe edition adds a bonus disc of demo performances of 6 of the tracks, plus an extra unreleased song, so it is worth the additional few dollars.
Eric's contributions are tasteful and do not overshadow the general feel of the album. He even takes a lead vocal on one of the songs.
After reading that they began working together on this project in March 2008, it is great to see the results reach fruition.
I'd like to see Eric record a studio album in this vein where he was able to be a bit more innovative, something a bit different from the norm for him.
Maybe I was just in a receptive mood, but I liked this album right off, generally albums take a few listens to gel.
