My understanding is they only played it the few times Duane played with 
them. I.e., it was too complex for a single guitar.

There's certainly no evidence it was played at the Fillmore East, based on 
the existing (albeit incomplete) recordings.

Note that only 2 originals from LAOALS (Tell The Truth and Why Does Love 
Got To Be So Sad) were known to be played at the FE.
