The BBC has just updated it's radio archive of desert island discs to include the1989 edition with ec. For those unfamiliar with the programme, it's been going for about 60 years and sets the question, 'which 5 records would you take to a fictitious desert island ?' plus your allowed one book besides Shakespeare and the bible and one luxury item. The format of the gentle interview and probe into the guest's past often gets guests dropping their guard and saying more than they meant to. Although in all honesty Clapton doesn't really give too much away.
To listen go to www.BBC.co.uk/radio4 then follow the link and search for Clapton. I don't know if it works outside the uk but if not maybe I or someone else could copy it for people.
The presenter, Sue lawley clearly has a thing for Clapton as she flirts slightly with him here, but on her tv show of around the same time, she interviews ec and townshend,(available on YouTube ) and turns into a gushing schoolgirl.( she's obsessed with his cream era pink boots!)
