There's a very good audience recording downloadable from:

Features a notable "Crossroads" and an interesting number called "Pygmy" - a
jazz-funk jam (yes the Friends are very versatile), with Eric giving his
best Carlos Santana interpretation, in fact with Bobby Whitlock's organ
throughout it sounds very much like Santana.
In spite of the cover notes, the following is relevant:
1. By this time Rita Coolidge & Tex Johnson had left the band.
2. Jim Horn was in - don't know if only for the San Francisco gigs.
3. John Simon sits in on "Pygmy" on keyboards. (Not JD Souther as per
the credits. You can also hear Delaney calling for John Simon (twice) to
come to the stage during band introductions on "Little Richard Medley".) I
suppose this will help to identify more accurately where John Simon fits in
on the Eric Clapton album.
