Despite having EC Access membership and trying for hours on the first day of 
presale, I failed to get any tickets.

I have just resigned myself to the fact that our days of seeing EC at the 
RAH are over. Sadly, my wife and I have never sat together to see him there. 
We were blessed to meet each other through a common love of Clapton's music 
and have been at the Albert Hall to see him on the same night just once, but 
in seperate seats.

The cost of tickets and the apparent impossibility of beating the 
system/scalpers/agencies is sad.

My usual hotel is/was always (relatively) inexpensive - the Ibis at Euston. 
But even that probably costs an arm and a leg now.
