I was lucky enought to see 12 Bars in NYC with EC in the audience, watched him walk in the theater and leave also, asked for a photo but he said no, it was so cool to see him in the theater something I will never forget.

Hello all,

I saw this over the Thanksgiving weekend here in a small independent Santa
Monica theatre as there were 4 showings playing exclusively for one day
only. I caught the first showing and counted 42 seats total in this small
theatre and there were 32 seats filled for this showing, so it wasn't an
immediate sell out probably because your average music fan didn't know it
was even showing. Didn't see much advertisement for it and since I knew it
would be showing over this long weekend I just checked the Where's Eric
site for the latest information where it would be showing. The movie is
just over 2 hours and it covers his entire career as well as his life as a
boy who's mother abandoned him and when she returned with his step brother
and sisters she wouldn't allow them to call him their brother or half
brother that prompted his grandmother Rose to say that was very mean of her
to do that from a recorded interview. Lots of pictures and film that we've
all seen before but there were also a lot of unreleased footage that was
interesting including home movies of the Dominos hanging out and fooling
around at Hurtwood Edge during their stay recording All Things Must Pass
with George Harrison. We hear all about his addictions to heroin and
alcohol and seeing him stoned after snorting coke up his nose with a pocket
knife. We as fans all know his story so none of this will be anything new
but to the casual rock fan this will all be pretty eye opening. None of
the people interviewed are shown so all you hear is their voices from being
interviewed with the most insightful coming from his old pal Ben Palmer
from the early days. To me is was more of a companion piece to his
biography he put out a few years back and it concludes with him finally
being in a happy place with his current family life being a father to his
lovely daughters including Ruth.

We are still alive. That’s a good thing. We’ve lost a lot of people, JJ Cale, BB King, many more. I’m enjoying The Breeze and Live In San Diego, too, along with the Forever Man compilation these days. Still have a soft spot for Pilgrim, since my wife and I fell in love with each other listening to it, almost 19 years ago. Come to think of it, that’s when she introduced me to the SD.

Enjoyed the concert at The Forum as part of a few days vacation in CA.

Be blessed.

Tony Boulton
