10.0pt;font-family:Arial'>The bonus material qualifies the DVD’s
subtitle: “With Jack Bruce”. It features Jack on bass from Classic
Rock Legends: 2002, with a band comprising 2 drummers, a percussionist, an
organ/keyboard player and a guitarist (who is barely audible, this in spite of
finger flaying all over the fretboard, eyes rolling in their sockets and
unwavering wanking on his whammy-bar). They do Sunshine of Your Love, White
Room and Politician. My opinion: Jack sounds like a rhythmic Eric on an
off-night, except on bass instead of guitar. The bonus track that makes it
worthwhile is As You Said with Jack on acoustic guitar (with the rest of the
musicians unseen) from sometime in the 70’s or so. The bonus stuff lasts about
30 minutes.

Your Love. Let me say right off the cuff: This is a very dicey disc that
somehow got into the mainstream market. Throughout there is a MP encircled by
an oval towards the top left hand corner. The start is lifted directly off the
start of the Cream: Strange Brew DVD. Even the title Strange Brew is included,
just as Sunshine of Your Love starts.

on the songs run from one into the other. There are 5 songs from the Farewell
Concert: SOYL, White Room, Crossroads, I’m So Glad and Spoonful –
These are indicated as 1967. Then SOYL from the Glen Campbell Show (17 May
1968), credited as The Smother Brothers TV Show Appearance: I need to give the
maker of this recording credit where it’s due, he admits on the cover
that this song is a “rare tape – rough quality”, which is no
understatement – lots of fuzzy lines. Interesting note about the
recording: Eric and Jack stood in their standard stage position, but facing
Ginger. Also a close-up of Eric reveals that he looks just as pissed-off as on
Anyone for Tennis also recorded on that day. So perhaps this was after the
butterflies and tennis rackets recording. The final 3 songs are: Born Under a
Bad Sign, Crossroads and SOYL from Cream’s induction into the Rock
‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame on 12 Jan 1993. The songs are recorded very
softly. The first number is a fine tribute to Albert King, the other two are
barely acceptable. This was a far cry from the 2005 reunion. The video quality
is not to clear, but from what I can make out, Ginger gave a somewhat
lacklustre performance. This disc is a whole 42:16 long – reminded me
somewhat of listening to an LP, except I didn’t have to get up to change sides.
There are no credits, I suppose for obvious reasons.
