Two Council Members Announce Planning Meetings

Two Council members announce planning meetings for Saturday, April 1.


Two council members have announced meetings to discuss rebuilding in
neighborhoods they represent following a series of planning sessions by a
town planning group came up with proposals for rebuilding St. Bernard
Parish.

Council members Mark Madary and Craig Taffaro Jr. said they will host
meetings for residents on Saturday, April 1.

Madary, who represents Arabi and parts of Chalmette, said he will hold a
planning session for residents in parts of his district April 1 from 8:30
a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the brown and white tent behind the government complex
at 8201 W. Judge Perez Drive in Chalmette. The sessions are intended for
property owners in Old Arabi, Pamela Place, Brittany Place and the portion
of Friscoville Avenue and Lebeau Street south of the railroad tracks, Madary
said.

He said he will announce dates for planning sessions in other areas of his
district after next weekend's meeting. For information, call Madary at (504)

Taffaro said he will host a series of discussions with District D residents
April 1 starting at 9 a.m. All of the meetings will be at the council
trailer behind the St. Bernard Parish government complex.
Taffaro will meet with residents from different neighborhoods each hour to
explain "the latest version of what we know about the redevelopment of
District D" and answer questions about the pending Louisiana Recovery
Authority plan.

At 9 a.m., he will address residents living on the east side of the Murphy
Oil refinery to and including Judy Drive residents in Meraux.

At 10 a.m., Taffaro will meet with residents whose properties are in Cypress
Gardens, Pecan Grove, Jumonville Plantation, Lexington Place and the areas
near Trist Middle School.

At 11 a.m., he will address residents who live east of Lexington on the
north side of Judge Perez to the 40-Arpent Canal all the way to Oak Ridge
but not including Oak Ridge, which is a different council district.

At noon he will meet with residents who live east of Trist School to
Colonial Boulevard from Judge Perez south to the Mississippi River.
