"Rep. Al Green, D-Texas, urged his colleagues to keep the slow hurricane
recovery in perspective, reminding them that families of the Sept. 11, 2001,
attack victims received millions of dollars each. "We cannot treat the
people of New York better than we treat people in New Orleans," Green said."

**One tragedy brought America to its knees, but not out for the count.

The other (Katrina) brought America to its senses. So, if America is so much
the smarter for it, how is it that the State of Louisiana is "eaten up with
the dumb a$$" when it comes to getting a satisfactory dispersement of funds
to it's St. Bernard (and yes, <gulp> New Orleans too <G>) in an honorable
way? I love my state, but why does it have to be so pathetic in a time of
crisis? The state is taking one step forward and two steps back when it
comes to correcting an already cataclysmic problem we are facing.

We all know/or should feel that the lines are long and are **quickened**
when it comes to zillions packed and entering Hell's afterlife. Why is it
that we must currently face Hell (head on, here on Earth), in long lines,
then walk through its fires at snail speeds -- while we still live and
breathe? I also don't wish to denigrate New York or even deny them of their
legal rights/awards as it's misery has been unconscionable.

But, folks..

We're past due.
