Apologies for the group email.

Hopefully I can be forgiven to writing to everyone I can think of with any
connection to New Orleans about this. Ellen -- my wife, "E" from Letters
from New Orleans -- is having a photography show in New Orleans next week,
and perhaps you or someone you know will be interested.

The show is called "Soldier Portraits." Ellen uses a 19th-century process
called wet-plate collodion, and for this project has made images of soldiers
mostly from the 3rd Infantry Division of the Army, which is partly based
near where we now live, in Savannah. A number of these soldiers have since
deployed to Iraq, in some cases for the second or third time.

More about her project here:
http://www.soldierportraits.com/

The opening is Saturday, December 1, from 6 to 9 pm, at the New Orleans
Photo Alliance Gallery, 1111 St. Mary Street. The show runs through February
5.

We are coming in from Savannah and will be there for the opening. E will
also be giving a talk about the process, and the project, Sunday December 2,
at the gallery.

Also she has contributed a piece to an auction "Gala" event to raise money
for the New Orleans Photo Alliance. That's November 30 at the Bridge Lounge
(1201 Magazine) from 7 to 9 pm. We'll be at that as well. It's $30 to get
in.

All of this is part of a larger event called Photo NOLA, "a month-long
celebration of photography in New Orleans," with a slew of
interesting-sounding shows at multiple galleries. Details here:
http://www.photonola.org

Come by, or tell someone you know in New Orleans to come by, if you like.

No obligation of course, and apologies if this was annoying.

Thank you.
