. "Thousands line up in Kenner for Section 8 vouchers:

Dramatic evidence of the post-Katrina shortage of affordable housing was on
view Wednesday in Kenner, where thousands of people -- far more than usually
turn out for this yearly event -- queued up for the chance to apply for
housing vouchers." --Nola.

*** Jer responds: At what point can we expect sales of properties, etc. to
become Section 8 properties in da parish? The New Orleans Convention crowd
must be about getting their dollars and filling up Kenner. Can St. Bernard
be next? I doubt if da parish citizens either want nor need additional
"Village Sq. villagers buying into homeowners neighborhoods.

The fact that former projects and returning evacuees from Houston, Dallas,
etc. are looking to move someplace--can Section 8 be that far behind with
"federal government mandates for housing" to be part of St. Bernard's
future. Is no one fighting for the right to eliminate this huge and
disgusting steamroller which could be about to happen?

I doubt that Section 8 homes would only be privy and planned for Jefferson
parish. There should be meetings with outrage about low income housing
infiltrating da parish. Pitiful!
