	Video security systems for the home are helping Sheriff's Deputies
in St.
	Bernard Parish zoom in on street crimes.
	
	Jill Indovina sweeps the dirt off the front porch of her Chalmette
home.
	It's not the only house cleaning she's been doing lately.
	Indovina says, "we've caught a few things that we weren't really
	anticipating catching, a neighbor who got robbed a person who was
stealing
	copper off some gutters."
	
	She's catching and clearing-out crooks targeting the neighborhood.
	And she's doing it with this:
	Her personal video surveillance system posted all over the home.
	Indovina says, "we probably have 6 or 7, we've added on a few, we're
trying
	to catch angles and views we didn't catch on the first go round."
	
	Deputies say it's people like Indovina who are helping put a dent in
one of
	their biggest problems property crimes.
	Col. John Doran says, "in the last two months alone we've cleared 28
	burglaries with 17 arrests, some of which coming from images
captured from
	video surveillance."
	
	Deputies say they have about a dozen or so cases they're still
working to
	solve.
	All of which were captured on tape by residents.
	Doran says, "you'd be surprised who's lurking around at 3 in the
morning so
	this gives us another set of eyes. The camera doesn't lie."
	
	That's why Indovina is investing in more.
	She says, "our goal is to be able to see who's coming and going
around the
	home on all the different streets on the different angles so if it's
near us
	we can get a plate get a face. So they actually get caught and to
find them.
	That's our goal."
	
	Deputies recommend people invest in their own.
