A Chalmette man already on probation for burglary has been booked in St.
Bernard Parish for five burglaries and possession of stolen property,
authorities said.

Ryan Clague, 34, was living in a storm-damaged house on Veronica Drive when
he was arrested Monday. An off-duty deputy who lives in the area spotted
Clague, who was wanted on warrants for missing court dates. When detectives
arrived to arrest Clague on the warrants, he fled but was quickly caught,
the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff's Office <http://www.sbso.org/> said.

Inside the house investigators found "numerous items'' that tied Clague to
five reported burglaries of sheds and vehicles, as well as pawn shop tickets
that investigators say could lead to the discovery of more stolen property,
the Sheriff's Office said.

The Sheriff's Office said Clague is on probation for a prior burglary
conviction. He is being held without bond in St. Bernard Parish Prison on
several charges including the five burglary counts, possession of stolen
property, theft of electrical service, possession of drug paraphernalia and
resisting arrest, authorities said.

The Sheriff's Office said in a news release that more than 30 home, business
and vehicle burglaries have been cleared since June 1, and about 20 people
have been booked with burglary or possession of recovered stolen property.
