St. Bernard Parish proclaimed Rita Doize as an Honored Citizen for her years
of volunteer work
The St. Bernard Parish Council proclaimed Rita Doize as an Honored Citizen
at its recent Council meeting for her years of community service. Rita and
her husband, the late Charles Doize, moved to Chalmette in 1947 and reared
seven children. She worked with the American Red Cross since Hurricane Betsy
in 1965 and started Women against Crime in 1974, which was the forerunner to
the Neighbor Watch. She has been as a member of the Versailles Club for 54
years and has been involved in several community events including Art in
April, Tour of Homes and the Community Playground Builds, just to name a
few.
