"The good thing here is that manslaughter is considered a "crime of
violence" --Westley."
Au Contraire, Mon Ami. Tis' softness in tone. <chuckle>
Unless this man is a "notorious", well known celebrity (ie. Patricia
VanWinkle of Charles Manson fame, I believe at some point there won't be a
public outcry for keeping him in as an older man. There most certainly will
be some President, some governor, some board will remove him from the penal
colony (with "good behavior given") at some point. The capital punishment
is more permanent. Further, as victim's rights continue to dwindle. Few
will know who he even is at some future point, so the passion involved with
swift justice is lost in time and the socialist would rather see
"rehabilitation" rather than justice for the victim's family, etc.
That's the point, and I stand by it. Manslaughter is a slap in the face to
murder 1 and unfortunately on a balance scale outweighs a murder conviction
(even though no one will ever get to see complete justice reached because
the socialist soon will make a federal (including supreme court decision) to
once again remove the death penalty as "unconstitutional".
Lastly, currently a wait of 15 or 20 years on appeals for capital
punishment to grind through the system with appeal after appeal, etc. is
mockery to law-abiding citizens and victims' rights. Survivors may not be
around to get the justice they righteously deserve.
Thus, one DNA test before court and one appeal is enough because I'm not
even certain there was such an "option" years back as a luxury.
Lastly, let's bring back the chain gang and rock busters and less
entertainment in prisons because social clubs and gang meetings are also a
mockery to the penal system as well.
Damn the torpedoes, but most certainly damn the once liberals, now socialist
to their just rewards for ruining America.
