Jindal: Union officials comments 'arrogant'

"Gov. Bobby Jindal told supporters that a comment by the top official of a
teacher's union was 'arrogant' in questioning whether low-income parents can
make an informed decision on where their children should attend schools.

'The union leader's comments are just the type of top-down, arrogant,
elitist mentality that has badly damaged our system of public education in
this country,' Jindal said Tuesday in an email to supporters.

director of the Louisiana Association of Educators, was quoted Tuesday in
the New Orleans Times-Picayune as saying that some parents in poverty may
have not the time or information to make a decision on their child's
education.

Jindal, who met on Tuesday with five mothers who said they want more school
options, used the gathering and a news conference afterward to repeatedly
denounce Walker-Jones' comment."
