Thought I'd follow Kaths lead here...

I'm a designer/developer living just outside Chicago.

I've been doing this since early '91, when a few buddies and I started
Chicago's second ISP. 24 9600 baud modems! At $25 a month per inbound line
from local phone company, we couldn't afford to provide access for very
long. But it was great while it lasted.

I've spent the last 7 years doing Fortune 500 level web sites, both public
and internal. Mostly web-based applications for internal use. Leading edge
stuff, wonderful time playing with new toys of all kinds. Frames, dHTML,
CSS, X-browser, XML, etc.

I've been unemployed (as well) this last year, and having a tough time
getting into the freelance biz again. (Over-qualified for a real job, or so
I've been told)

I do everything from client interaction, project management, site design,
client-side development, server-side development. Pretty much everything
from "soup to nuts".

Spent the last year diving deeper and deeper into PHP. Been working on a new
DATE Class for PHP and an enhanced Authentication Class. I've spent so much
time in PHP my Perl is getting *real* rusty! (I do miss going to the Perl
Conferences)

I'm currently building a nice little "job bank" system for a group out of
New York. All PHP and mySQL. Real slick, and having a fun time doing it.
Hope to turn it into some kind of "product" and offer it to other sites that
want/need to post job offerings.

I'm also trying to get off the ground "js-classes.com". I site similar to
php-classes.com (I hope). A place to find and add new JS classes, methods
and code for all sorts of issues and problems. But life keeps getting in the
way. Domains are running; CVS still needs to be configured; mailing list
needs to be installed (similar to this one); etc. Really not much past the
planning/concept stage.

Right now, the flag ship "product" is "js_validation"
(http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Javascript_Validation), a full client-side
validation class. Add a few custom attributes to your Form Elements, include
the class file and your off!

It even has language support.

Right now it displays the errors messages in an ALERT, but I hope to get it
to handle inline display as well. I have the code to do that, but it is not
X-browser. No time right now [but maybe someone here might like to take a
stab at it (hint, hint) ;) ].

Anyway, that's me, what I've been doing. And, like Kath, always looking for
work! ;)

I'm also looking forward to an active, productive group.
